We all know marea weekends rock :slayer: and that they have a huge boot!
So apart from the weekly shopping and pushchair, what the hell do you fill all that space with?

Would be interesting to see if anybody has photos of a full load being well packed into thier large rear end!

We always say ours converts into an Ark when we take the rabbits and birds up to stay with our Daughter if we are going on holiday. You do have to detach the hutches from the runs when packing the back. It's quite hilarious to see the rabbits peering out of their carry cages among the piles of animal care kit. I have never taken a pic, too exhausted by the time I get all that stuff packed in. The wife never fails to remind me when we approach the roundabout where I tipped the parrot over once. The parrot gave me a hard time as well.

Will have to see if my mate has some pictures of the car fully loaded, took a road trip over to france this summer for 3 weeks competing in a few bike races, there was 2 of us in the car with 3 bikes in bags with spare wheels and a shed load of spare kit tool boxes stands, body armour helmets and then there was our cloths for the duration, there was physically no more room for anything else in there also dont think i had any suspension left  i think it was slightly overloaded but it handled the alpine hills perfectly.

Me! A drive up to the lake district to one of the excellent real ale pubs followed by a nights rest on a blow up mattress in the boot (inflate the bed first and you might need a plastic container for your bodily functions)!

Ive also carried two armchairs in the back with the settee on the roof from Cumbria to Merseyside via the M6(y)

well after doing 2 mobile discos in mine I decided to do something to prevent it ending up like a builders van. My old escort was in a bad state after 2 years of loading and unloading all my equipment every week and there's no way my marea will suffer the same fate! :D

What I will say is that the escort had a good solid boot where as the marea has some poor flimsy cardboard stuff that sinks into the spare wheel hole under any sort of weight. This is probably the cars biggest design fault and I know that's being picky, but they should expect an estate to get some heavy loads.

So 2 sheets of 12mm MDF later it's gig ready! :slayer:

I made a stencil of each side using some wallpaper before cutting the final shape and it fits nicely around the wheel arches.

NOTE: If you try doing this, realise that each side is a different shape because of the fuel intake pipes. (I didn't notice at first and tried flipping the left stencil over to cut the right hand side and it didn't fit) :bang:

I've done 3 different panels, one for the main boot and two smallers ones for the 60/40 split seats. It's all covered in a single bit of dark grey carpet and held in place on the seats when upright by sticky velcro strips.
The gap between the folding seats and the boot expands when folding the seats down so there is a spare few inches of carpet holding the middle and rear sections together which acts as a hinge.
The main panels also lifts easily if you needed the spare wheel.

Now I can chuck speakers and amps in there and slide them straight to the back without them getting caught on all the lumps and bumps. (y)

(photos to follow)

Hellcat, I like the close up of the JTD 130 badge, very arty farty! :yum:

And is that IKEA gateshead by any chance? I love going there and watching people struggle to fit a bed in a pug 307 or ford focus only to pack the stores entire contents into the marea where it seems to go into a black hole or something!

Don't know if Fiat meant to do it, but the way you have left the drop down part open is probably the only legal way of having stuff stuck out of your boot like that!
When you see other people doing it, it's actualy illegal if your boot is open at more than a certain angle as you number plate is not visible from a certain distance.

Nice one Fiat ! (y)

I'm surprised at how well mine handles with all the disco gear in!
The trip from darlington to leyburn is all little country roads and
it was a good drive. Only thing I would say is that on the motoway it seems to drift or skate as I would call it and sometimes you feel like one twitch of the steering and your gone!
My escort was similar until I put some alloys on it with wider / lower profile tyres on so I'm hoping doing the same with the marea will have the same effect. Apart from that the car handles very well.

hmmm didnt have any problems like that it was perfect on the motorways (unlike the driver) well apart from when the outside temperature was roasting the fuel injector light kept coming on

Update for mine...

A boot full of FF members!

Yeah that is Ikea Gateshead, although the photos were taken in the Team Valley Trading estate. The table is massive and even I'm suprised it fit in the Marea, along with it's 6 chairs! My last trip to Ikea I fit a massive computer desk in the Tipo - even with the split seat up!

Ummm, went to Ikea Leeds on Sunday, I might one day try to fill the boot with Ikea hot dogs, ummmmmmmmm!!!!!! :yum:

Did another mobile disco last week too but didn't have any batteries for my camera, damn. i will take some next time, firstly of the rig fully set up.
You will not beleive it goes in a car, or anything smaller than a merc sprinter for that matter! ,,,,,but it does.

wow! :D

i'd be lucky to get any poweredge in my boot, or even just the dualcore xeons by themselves :(

funnily enough at work 3 months ago they threw out a 1950 because no one wanted to take it home, and i couldnt fit it in the car. the xeons went in the bin! NOT FAIR

i was close to sticking my sub in the bin instead, but i dont think the 1950 would sound quite as good.

Threw out a 1950?! But they're brand new!

exactly what i said, it didnt even have dust inside. but it costs money to get things disposed of, and we had no use for it (had loads of budget left and it MUST get used  ), so it was free to a good home, and when no one claimed it they stuck it in the skip. i said they should at least stick it on ebay but they laughed at me saying its only company money. i was almost sick.

dont know what the thing is called that they replaced it with, but it replaced 3 servers and its a big black cube with a single blue light on the front, nothing i've ever seen before? it didnt fit in any of our racks so its sat on the floor instead. i call it the black beast.
