Hi Everyone,just offered to help fix a stranded Marea 1.9 JTD.I have not seen the car yet but have just been told that it will not go into gear when the engine is running.The car has been left for a few weeks and was running fine prior to this.The problem sounds like a snapped clutch cable or stuck on clutch to me but not sure if this model had a hydraulic clutch I am going to have a look at it tomorrow but would really appreciate any info/advice.Nearly forgot to say....the guy who looked at it quickly,reckoned there was only one fluid resevoir(is it shared with brakes??)and it was still filled up,Thanks for Any Help Guys

yup hydraulic, and yep shared with brakes check you cant pull the pedal up.

Cheers Bulldog5046,info much appreciated.My mate said that the pedal was moving up and down ok,thought it seemed very light though(Just read on the Forum it might be due to clutch spring gone,hence very light feel making him think a cable had snapped.)Do you think it would still come up if the slave cylinder had gone and would the fluid be very low/empty in the resevoir?? I have heard of clutches sticking in the past and the cure was to start up in gear...I know,sounds dodgy?? Cheers Carl

The slave cylinder is on top of the gear box, under the battery. Put your hand under there and ask your mate to press the clutch pedal. You'll probably feel your hand get covered in fluid.

reason i say check if you can pull it up is because mine was getting slowly stuck, fluid was fine and i didnt have long enough to look into it anymore but it would just not fully retract a little more each time, cure was to just get used to hooking it up with my foot.

but if not just check everything seems to be moving okay, check the gear lever is moving correctly at both ends etc.
