i have a marea hlx td125 and the injection warning light comes on and stays on for approx 3mins then goes off with no loss off performance opr any other problems.fiat dealer could not find any faults either so i was wondering if anyone else has or has had this problem and if they managed to fix it.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.:D
The injection light indicates that something within the fuel management system is operating out of spec. It could be one of many different reasons and if it only stays on for a few minutes and does not latch in a fault with the ECU then it is not really a problem as such.
It could however indicate that you are about to have a problem. Things to try. Put an injector cleaning additive in your fuel tank as it may just be dirty injectors. Lots to choose from, if you can't decide on one i'm sure we'll all recommend different ones.;)
Next time it happens take a note of; how you are driving, cold/hot, fast/slow, wet/dry, etc and post it up. We'll then have a better idea, hopefully, of what's happening.
Good luck. :D

hi polecat,i put injector treatment in car but to no avail.ijector light comes on first thing when startied engine but then goes off after 3 or 4 mins.i noticed that afetr light goes off power in engine and electrical system retyrns to normal.a mechanic suggested that it could be a cold start injector that kicks in to help performance with cold starts.hope this sheds some light on subject.
ps. guy i bought it from had it in to fiat dealer for same prob but could not find any faults on diagnostic equipment.

I would say your mechanic is spot on, sounds about right to me. The cold start injector is simmilar to the choke on old carburetters and is only on for a short period, to aid engine start on cold days by richening up the mixture.

If the injection light comes on when starting from cold it could be the coolant temperature sensor not working. This signals the ECU to let more fuel into the engine until it warms up, a bit like an auto choke. You would need to run the diagnostic from cold to pick this up. The sensor is a bit tricky to test yourself, you need a thermometer, ohm meter and a temperature chart.
I'm a bit surprised the dealer didn't pick that up....but then again ;)

Does this only happen from cold, or when you have been driving for a while?

yeah it only happens when engine is cold, stays on for approx 4mins then goes out once enginr is warm.if i start engine when warm it only stays on for 10 or 15 seconds

Just had another thought, if you have the Bosch VER 679 fuel pump it has an automatic cold injection advance device fitted. (Think this is what Notorious mentioned...just seen his post:I)
Try a garage with the above ideas and see what they say. Let us know how you get on and good luck.:D
