I require the electrical systems control unit that controls the central locking and door and light switches as I suspect mine is faulty. Its the one located behind a panel in the glove box and has three connectors into it - two bigger ones at the back and a smaller one at the front.

My central locking will not stay shut as the rear hatch and side doors on the near side are flagged as being open but they are not - its very annoying as I cannot lock the car at the moment

My car is a Marea 20v Weekend HLX.

Any help much appreciated.

make sure you get the correct one...near enough isnt good enough there are a lot of different ones depending on the optional extras fitted.

Yes its mine Bulldog, rang him this morning - just hope it cures the problem - if not its not cost me too much and I know I can discount it as being the problem (unless of course this one is knacked too!)

It has the same numbers as mine on the outside of the box so it should be a good match.

Cheers,

Well the central locking control unit I bought for £15 on Ebay has done the trick with the central locking problem on my HLX - the doors will now stay locked and not re-open again - but the rear hatch light is still lit on the dash to say its open even though shut

Just need to sort out this apparent alarm problem now as at the moment I have to keep removing the fuse, which also knocks out the instrument clocks and radio, to stop the indicators from staying permanently on

well atleast it wasnt a wastee then!

i wonder if your having problems still because the boot sensor is faulty? i removed my bonnet sensor as i needed to and have noticed when i lock the car the alarm makes its beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep then a second or two passes and another little beep comes out, i guess thats indicating a sensor fault? do you get this?

Bulldog,

Yes very pleased about the sorting the locking problem and that the diagnosis was correct - thanks again for pointing out the link to the guy breaking the Marea on Ebay.

I have now removed the alarm contol unit, which is located under the front near side wheel arch, which was cracked and full of water. Since its removal all door locking and indicator problems have been cured thank goodness.

The original electrical control unit for the doors, windows, interior lights etc, located in the glovebox, has now checked out OK so the new one is surplus to requirements - if anyone needs one let me know.

Cheers,
