 Can anyone help? Starter motor will not catch first time in the morning, especially if its very cold or damp. When (if) it finally catches and turns over, it starts like a goodun all day................
Just been to a garage who said it is the "drive" and quoted £150 parts + 2 hours labour to swap and thats a reconditioned one...................is it correct or is he pullin my leg?? I may be blond and female but not made of money. Besides I have done 152k in the car so may be time for the knackers yard. All advice appreciated.

"The drive" what the heck is "the drive". If a "mechanic" can't be more explicit than that I'd walk the other way

A lot of cars are going to have problems starting in this weather. A weak battery or tired starter motor will show up more and that's all it sounds like it might be from your description. If it starts up just fine for the rest of the day then there isn't much wrong with it. Go somewhere else at least for a second opinion
