brother inlaw has a marea 19td diesel and after running for a short while he gets lots of white smoke from the exhaust then it clears and then comes back theres no smell of burning oil anyone have any ideas we have changed the oil and filter :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang

it could be your head gasket has gone. normaly it is blue smoke if it is oil.white smoke is normaly steam from a head gasket as water passes though the chambers.and exits through the exhaust if it has blown through a water way check oil to see if you have any trace of white gunge as this may give you a clue. or see if you have any bubbling coming through your header tank as this is a clue that it is blowing across the water ways. hope this is of some use to you
 
White smoke from a diesel can be a couple of things.

At start up it is usually cold cylinders not allowing the fuel to burn correctly (you often see this if a heater plug has gone)

If this is during normal running when the engine is up to temperature then your fuel pump timing is probably retarded. Did you have a cam belt change earlier this year?
