Hi,
I had a loan Marea Estate for a week from a garage (not a Fiat dealer). It was a HLX with the 2.5 diesel engine.
I have to say that I was really impressed, I had never been in one before. The engine was excellent and very quiet. I just sold my 18 month old BMW 525D and the engine was just as good.
I am surprised they didn't sell more of them.
We now have a new Ulysse Eleganza (baby and dog now)and a Punto. Shame the Fiat dealers don't seem to know what they are doing or the details of their products. I know there is a price difference, but when you compare a BMW garage to Fiat, you may as well be in the third world when you go to a Fiat dealer.
I recently went to the local Fiat garage and I was blocked in by one of the new cars being delivered off the transporter. I asked one of the garage staff if they could move it so I could get out, they told me the keys were in it and I would have to move it myself.
If Fiat sorted out their dealers, then they would become a serious main stream supplier in the UK. Fiat's have a reputation for bad build quality, I am sure 90% of this comes from the after sales support of the dealers. All cars have faults and I haven't had any more on my Fiats than on prestige brands, the way it is dealt with is the main difference.
Poggy
