Hi,

I have a 98 Fiat Marea Weekend, and when I brake, only the Top light (strip across the boot) lights up. The two supposedly brake lights dont. I havent checked the bulbs yet but Id be surprised if both are blown. These bulbs do light when I switch the headlights on.

Is there another common fault that could be happening here?

Thanks,
Stephen.

Hi FiatExpert,

I had a look at that tail light bulbs and they seem ok, ie they arnt obviously blown. I'll buy some new ones in the moorning and see of they work. In the meantime, I notice that there were two sets of double filament bulbs for each brake light. It seems like more than coincidence that they are all blown.

Is there some kind of earthing done for the brake lights that mightnt be wired correctly maybe?

I have ruled out a fuse problem since everything in the car is working fine, and I reckon that the rear brake lights would be sharing a fuse with something else.

All Will be revealed (hopefully) tomorrow when I buy some bulbs.

Stephen.

Eureka,

I got some new bulbs and indeed they were the culprits. Even though the filaments in the bulbs looked fine, they were blown.

thanks!
