Can't get the belt to stop slipping, garage have tried to put a slightly smaller belt on with no joy, he reckons the self adjusting tensioner pulley is shot and needs replacing, is this a tricky job as it appears to be in an awkward position, also is it an expensive bit of kit to buy, forgot to mention jtd130

cheers

Hi

My dad has just replaced the alternator belt on my car Marea 110 JTD the self tensioner cost about £30 and the other guide roler cost about £18 from my local fiat dealer. If the engine is the same design as the jtd110 have a look behind the wheel, there is a cover you can take off, you should be able to get to the self adjusting tensioner pulley. To remove the belt turn the pully with a spaner this will loosen the belt. you should be able to remove the tensionser and refit a new one. If the belt is making a squelling nose it could be the other pulley. should take you about 1/2 hour

Hope this helps
