Hello im new on here so bear with me lol!!

My 2001 1.9 jtd would not start this afternoon, it was fine this morning and it has always started first time every time in the 5 months i have owned it.

All the electrics are working fine and it has plenty of diesel in the tank could this just be the glow plugs or is it something more complicated.

Many Thanks

Richard.

Hi, welcome to the FF.

The glow plugs are operated electrically, so as you "All the electrics are working fine", it won't be them.

Could be fuel or air leak or blockage, or cambelt broken or slipped.

Turn the key first and listen for the fuel pump, it should last a few seconds before turning off. Any red engine light? If so get the codes.

Yes the fuel pump lasts a few seconds then turns off, the lights for oil battery stay on and the light that looks like a petrol pump (Far Left sorry i dont have my service book with me too look what this light means) flashes then stays on.

Hope this makes sense.

Does the car turn over normally or does it sound slower or sluggish? Flat or low battery in which case.

Light that looks like a petrol pump? Is it the one with thermometer sitting on water? If so its the water temp sensor.

nope i have found another post about that light it is the injector light but it also doubles up as ecu light to say its logged a fault.

Need someone to get a fault code reader on her then. If you have home start break down cover they should help or a local mechanic with a reader to get the code.

okay i will have to wait untill tuesday now being a bank holiday so i will let you know what happenes many thanks for all your help.

1.9 jtd wont start (update!)

As some of you may be aware my 1.9 jtd would not start the other week, i got a local mechanic too come and have a look and he put it on the diagnostics which came back as crank sensor. He replaced the crank sensor but then the car would not read the key the ecu keeps cutting the injectors from getting fuel to the engine, the mechanic thought it might be the immobiliser ring so replaced this to no avail he says it might have to go to a Fiat main dealer to be reset has anyone else had similar problems.

God knows what a dealer will charge to fix it!

Re: 1.9 jtd wont start (update!)

I have a problem during hot weather drive. Today suddenly, after a temperature of the water jumps up a little, the car stops, and wasn't able to start after 20 min time... Any suggestion for my problem.
