Hi,

X reg, about 80k on the clock. ( Estate - Red - great car to drive - 5 cylinder growl :D )

Engine turnes over strongly, but will not fire. After a few attemps given up. Tried again in a hour or so starts perfectly first time. This has happened twice now, rescue truck called out for 2nd incident, could not find fault so loaded it and dropped off at home, once home, started first time. Truck man thinks it nay have something to do with alarm, or flywheel sensor - any suggestions.

Also been suggested that putting mobile phone on dash can cause management or alarm system to throw a wobbly - thoughts please.

Hi,

Car has run perfectly for 2 weeks, but I have never had to start it from warm/hot during this time, except for yesterday, tried a warm start. Engine would not fire - left it for a bout 3 hours to cool down - started first time.

Can anyone point to which sensor it would be ? And where to get one from ?

Thanks

Sound like esactly same problem that i had with my alfa v6 and it was down to a faulty cam sensot. It will be at one side of the engine at top were cams are. Shop 4 parts is good or take one off another car from scrap like i did

Thanks for the answer.

Have searched the forum for camshaft sensor - many matches but conflicting views. How easy is it to change camshaft sensor on 2.0 20V 155 engine ?

Ok, at worst Assuming its the cam sensor or it maybe the Crank sensor, out of the two the crank sensor is the easiest to change...It is located at the rear of the engine (bulkhead) i would as suggested change this first as it may solve your problem and the cheapest option. If it is the cam sensor then it is a major job as the cam belt/pulleys etc have to be removed as the sensor is situated behind the pulleys. There is no easy access...P.S i bought a push bike to get to work while i did mine , Fiat wanted £800 to do it as they said engine had to be removed.Check the forum again for the post on the step by step guide...changing cam sensor. Its a brilliant guide and money saver.

Just 1 thing before you decide to rip her appart :p,

Dont suppose 2.0 20v have the fuel cut off switch like the 1.6 16v?

That would be an advisable check first incase its accidently pressed ! :p

I think its under passenger seat somewhere!

Fuel cut off would mean it doesn't start at all, as opposed to not starting when hot though I think.

Cannot afford to spend the money on sensors which may, or may not fix the problem. So I have deceided to sell it - add now in classifeid section. Shame to sell the car, but is most sensible option. Apart from this problem has been a great car to own and drive.
