Hi everybody!!
I have just got a 1.6 auto Marea, in part ex. It missfires whilst idling and driving. The coil pack has been changed, and so have the HT leads and plugs. The eml is on and I don't have a code reader. Do Mareas suffer with anything in particullar???
Many thanks Simon

You really need to put it on a code reader first to see what fault code is showing, that may tell you straight away what the problem is.

Two further things you could check if the code read/reset does not cure the fault:

First of all when did it last have a cam-belt change and did the problems start then? getting the belt one or two teeth out will not stop the car running but will cause similar problems.

The other thing to do is a cylinder leakage or compression test to check if one or more cylinders are down on compression you could have leakage past one or more valves which will also cause these problems.

Good luck:)

Can anybody recommend an ECU reader for 1998 Marea Weekend 1.6 equipped with a Marelli IAW 1AF? Neither UniDiag, FES, nor Barnacle's program seem to support this. Or, is there a handheld code reader/scanner out there (obviously pre-OBD)? Didn't find one on eBay that covers this ECU. Cheers.

If you have a laptop you can do it this way http://www.fiatecuscan.net/ download the free version that will do you.
