I have this car from january and i have a question.is this motor (my marea is 2000/1 ) with common rail or not? why the same motor in alfa 166 have more horse power? my marea 2.4 JTD has 96Kw and alfa 2.4 JTD has 100Kw? is one with common rail and one without? or is just chip tunning? or is the 2001 year common rail?
thx for replay

Hi,

If yours is the 130 JTD, then I'm pretty sure it is the common rail version. Mine is a 125TD, which has the older injection system.
I guess they chipped up the alpha, but the JTD engines can be remapped if you can find someone near you with the kit. I did hear that the 130JTD can be chipped upto the 150bhp mark (sorry don't know what that is in kW's!)...

hi
Kw is kilowatt, and should be more acurate than HP. it is rated 1.36 hp so 100Kw is 136 HP an 96Kw * 1.36 is 131 HP,im from slovenia,we use both mesurments.
thx

All JTD's are common rail. For some reason Alpha's tend to have a little more power than the FIAT variants - maybe they are seen as the more exotic brother and the extra power is used to help the marketing? Who knows? The difference is usually in the calibration loaded into the ECU, it wouldn't make sense for FIAT and Alpha to use different engine internals.

Your Marea is certified to Euro 3. The same engines used in todays Euro 4 cars are putting out more power again as the engines can run 'dirtier' due to exhaust catalysts and urea injection that can counter the higher engine emmisions before they leave the exhaust.

Hello!

I have FIAT MAREA 2.4 JTD and as RS Pilot says: All JTD's are common rail.

My friend have ALFA 166 2.4 JTD and engines are 100% identical except plastic engine cover! :)

According to AUTO-DATA CD, FIAT MAREA 2.4 JTD have 96kW/130hp, ALFA 156/166 with identical engine have three different engine power: 100kW/136hp, 103kW/140hp and 110kW/150hp

With engine tuning box you can get 10-15kW very easy so I allso think that difference between FIAT and ALFA is just a little calibration in ECU!

P.S. In some specifications I have found that FIAT Marea 2.4 JTD have 99kW/136hp?!?!

Yes it is a common rail. I also have one of those beutys. Tell me how much oil yours consumes per 1000 km and of course what is your mileage.

Marko.
