Hi, tonight on my way home from work, my 1.6 elx Marea cut out as I pulled over to let someone past in a country lane. Took a contractor to the AA four hours to arrive. He was in a mood and had no intention of investigating the fault
Anyway, there is no hint at all of it firing whilst cranking the starter. I have read answers to similar posts onthe forum and it seems that the fuel supply cut out could need resetting or that the crankshaft position sensor might have failed. I have a red key somewhere. is it worth trying to start it with that? I must admit, I didn't really notice which dash lights were on or off at the time.
Are there any other simple things to check before I start spending money that I dont have on the old thing? Where do I look for the crank sensor?
This car has been ultra reliable for six years until tonight.
Many thanks in anticipation of help which anyone might have.
