The clutch slave failed on the Marea this week, not complaining its a 10 year old car. All the symptoms lined up but there was no leaking fluid around the cylinder. When it was swapped out the fluid plus dissolved seal emerged from the rubber boot on the actuating arm where it had been trapped. No help needed just to help others trying to work out why they cant disengage the clutch.

i have the same problem. how do you change the cylinder?

Its very easy on my 1.8. The cyloinder is visible on top of the gearbox. First check it is hydraulics by having someone press the pedal while you watch for movement.
Have you removed the boot to see if there is fluid there, it would be black with the remains of the seal. If not it may be the master. At 10 years old I started with the slave as a diagnostic and was lucky first time. If it is then you can undo the 2 bolts with the bsttery tray in place. I had to use a lot of penetrating oil on the flexi pipe fit new then bleed in usual way. I borrowed an Eazibleed and and old spare wheel to do this and with the new cylinder bleed screw being easy tomove snd sealing well it was very fast.
Its do able but fiddly, if you are not confident then get a mobile mechanic out, shouldnt cost much.
