My fiat has just came up with a fuel gauge problem on the dash board. The needle is wobbling, I know for well that I have half tank of petrol in my tank, but it's reading half, or a quarter, or emtpy sometimes. I suspect that there is a fault connection somewhere.

Can this problem be solved easily? or do I have to paid a fortune to get that fixed?

I would first check the fuel pump and fuel guage sender unit connections. These are accessible through a small round panel in the floor of the boot.

remove the boot panel as polecat described, remove the wiring and bridge out the two smaller size wires and the fuel guage should go to max, and when taken off go to empty, if so the sender unit is at fault.
