Please help, I took my car for the garage to fix a problem I had with cold start, they put a new fuel pump covered under the warranty but they changed the new injectors it had with old rusty ones, they denied they did it. I have no evidence so nothing I can do :-(

The car is now running very lumpy.

The next time i took it to check why its lumpy, noticed more missing when i got it back. Can anyone please help as the garage denies that the parts existed in the 1st place.

The said that there is nothing wrong with the car and that its not running lumpy.

I need a photo of under the bonnet with no parts removed of a Fiat marea 125 2.4 turbo deisel, mine is a P reg (97) model.

Please help!!

why do you need a photo? they cant take parts out that car needs.

i think it had some plastic covers, but they deny they were ever there.

i may be able to send you a few pics tomorrow are you on msn messenger?

Might be worth naming and shaming the garage if you think they are dodgy! It would save other forum members from using them

I would do, its just the car is still under warranty at the moment, and they deal with only a few 125 2.4 TDs so they'll know its me, but once I get the photos I will compare and if the parts i think are missing are I will do.

Incidently, they replay replaced the fuel pump b4 christmas and on the recipt they wrote....

"Replaced fuel Injection Pump due to vehicle non-start, tested, vehicle running lumpy from cold unable to locate fault, requires further investigation."

and asked me to bring the car back after christmas so they can investigate the problem further, so I did. They had the car for 4 days and said they didn't find a problem and charged me £60 even though they asked me to bring it back.

But the car is lumpy, they admited it b4 christmas, the garage guy said that when the car starts only a couple of injectors kick off, and that they go through a sequence after a few seconds when they all start working, he says he thinks this is the way the system works, is this true??

Just want to say a big big thank you to andy and ChezShells.com for the photos.

Yes seems to run ok other than the cold start, it sounds very rough when its cold, but seems ok when it warms up.

Throughout the 6 months i've had it its had enless problems.

. stiff gears
. boot not opening
. air con not working
and other little bits and pieces.

all have now been fixed, I'm wondering what will be next, its a P reg but its only done 55000 miles.

Apart from that its a superb car and a perfect family car wih a lot of power.

Any ideas if its due for a cambelt?

I had my cambelt done at 65k, cost £250 main dealer (in France) they told me to get it done by 72k

Had mine since April last year and its been pretty good but its starting to get probs, keeps coughin n fartin when booting or low revs in high gear, back door probs but sorted that with a bit of cord connected up, have to pull the cord to be able to open from outside

I'd have another but the JTD 130 model, chipped.

Thanks for that, its just the garage said I needed a new cambelt because of the age of the car, they said that because of the age of the car I shouldn't look at the mileage but rather the age. I just need to know if this is true or just another one of their cons.

Fiat recommended 72k or 72 months for pre '99 cars, however it is generally recognised that you need to replace the belt at 50k.
The tensioners in early cars have a tendency to break and there was a design change in about '99.
I would seriously consider having the belt done sooner rather than later as you are past the 72 month recommendation and will also have the early production tensioner.

My car has done 47K and is a '99 model. Would you suggest I do the same then? I hadn't budgeted for this for another year!!! Anyone know someone in North Wales who will change a CAM belt for less than the price of the car? :(

Sorry Tryfan but I can't really advise you on that.
There is likely to be a greater risk of failure after 50k and/or 5yrs but a cam belt could fail after 10k or last for 100k. It just comes down to personal choice/peace of mind and finance. The costs are approx £800 (or cheaper) for a belt change and anything around £1500 - £2k for a recon engine fitted.

You can tell which tensioner you have fitted by it's colour. Can't remember if it's black or white. Try a search on tensioners.

EDIT: I did my P97 a year ago with £51k on the clock.
