Hi,

I've noticed that my 2000 Marea Weekend pulls to the left when I accelerate, but it's only noticeable when when I'm already at motorway speed. So for example if Im already doing 100kph and I lightly press the accelerator more the car tends to go left, so I compensate with the steering but then when I ease up on the accelerator I have to compensate with the steering again as the car is no longer being drawn left.

It leads to a sea-sick ride and its quite tiring as It evolves a lot of small steering adjustments on the motorway.

I dont notice it at low speeds.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

Change both wishbones, it is the triangle part that lies flat on the bottom af the front of the car.
3 bolts and a bit of muscle.
If you change one it will transfer the pressure to the other. Also get the tracking done after.

Im not bad at a bit of DIY but it might be a job too much for me :( I dont have proper lifting gear for the car or a compression thingy to hold the springs. Reckon I should tackle it or get a mechanic to do it?

Ummm 5 bolts, and a few tools beyond the socket set.

There are 4 bolts holding the wishbone to the front subframe. 2 front and 2 rear. Inboard and outboard on both.

The wishbone ball pin is held into the bottom of the wheel bearing carrier by a pinch bolt. Needs undoing, then the carrier teased open with a cold chisel until the bolt can be removed.

Re-fitting can be tricky - getting the bolts into the subframe should be attempted inboard pair first.

You don't need a spring compressor, but you would need a proper jack and axle stands as you'll be working under the car and putting quite a force on the bolts.

A competent mechanic should have it done in no time, so labour cost should be minimum.

I wa gonna attempt this myself too but after looking on power italia they can do it supply and fit lower arms, drop links and anti roll bar bushes for £210 which I think is very good considering parts alone are gonna cost over £100.

Cheers

What did they replace? 90 Euro doesn't sound much. Have they replaced the bushes on the arms, or the whole arms?

People usually change the arms when the bushes start to fail because the ball joint where the wheel attaches is not replaceable. If the arms were not changed then check the rubber boot on the ball joint for cracks.

I checked and it was just the rubber and the casing. I'll check the other thing for cracks. Thanks for the tip.
