I have a fiat marea weekender 16v Y reg petrol. 59,000 on the clock, has had regular servicing. In July this year i was travelling on the motorway, stuck in traffic, put the air con on pulled away and when i turned it off i felt the car kinda misfiring and losing power.
Took it straight to a mechanic, but the symptoms stopped. It has since worsened, always under torque, never when just revving, in fact the engine sounds sweet as a nut.
Several mechanics, and the following later..new coil pack, new leads, new plugs. Then diagnosed as a spiked ECU, bought one, but then told that its not the ECU, so havent had it fitted. Everytime i take it to the mechanics ( different ones) with the engine management light illuminated they can't find the fault and then clear the code. But the problem within a few miles of driving comes back again.
So far the diagnostic computer has shown the following faults.....injector circuit, lamdor, and then maybe it might be the MAS sensor. But then they'd test it and find something else. In the end they gave up, because it doesnt show with a quick 10 min round the block.
I ask them to drive it to get the fault to show up but they go round the block and say there's no fault, and to come back when its showing it, then they can run a diagnostics test and get accurate readings. Which is all very well save it costing me £50 a time!!!! Does anybody ahve a clue as to what this might be, please????? Very desperate now!:bang:
