Fuel filter change, anyone done this?

Does it need to be done a certain way, I changed mine a while ago to solve a fuel starvation problem, well i thought it was, either driving hard or in top at low revs the car would sort of miss, like a dodgy spark plug, so i changed the fuel filter and this sorted it for a while, its doing it again now, so i undid the nylon nut at the bottom and undid the filter until fuel came out of the bottom, anyway its ok for a while

any ideas?

by the way, its a 125TD
