Hi guys, it's me again!!

About two weeks ago the brake pad low warning light on my instrument panel came on. I took the car to the local quik fit and they had a look at the pads and said they were fine.

To extinguish the light, they unclipped/unplugged a cable (with white connectors) near the brakepad and this worked.

I am just wondering if this cable controls anything more than just the warning light, as I have noticed the car skids when braking in the wet now. Was it wise to unplug this?

If anything, does this cable control anything else?

Many thanks
Alex

The wire attached to the brake pads is the brake pad wear warning sensor. When the pads wear down the light comes on. Unplug the wire and the light goes out, but the pads are still worn. Did the Kwik Fit fitters say how much pad was left, 5mm is low on a marea but would pass on, say, a corsa?

Not aware of anything else that uses this signal.
