Hi all!
I have a 2002 Marea Weekend, 1.9JTD - had it almost 18 months now, has less than 248k on the clock. In the last six months it has developed what I can only describe as an intermittent misfire - more annoying than anything - but I'd like to get to the bottom of it.
It only seems to occur at a certain partial throttle (or whatever it's called on a diesel) position, so is most evident up the right type of incline in 3rd, at just under 2,000 revs when it starts just like a petrol engine misfire.
If I keep things exactly as they are, this seems to set off a bit of an oscillation going through the drivetrain, but if I move the pedal back or forward the vibration comes to a halt. If I press the loud pedal hard the car still goes off like a rocket - so I'm not thinking fuel filter or injectors. Can't repeat the effect stationary - only seems to happen under load.
Definitely feels more related to pedal position than anything, which is making me wonder whether there is a potentiometer or something in the circuit which is starting to wear out - like an old music centre volume control?
Any suggestions welcome!
Oh, and when should you change the cambelt on these engines? Last time was 173k according to the PO?
