I know the shocker dampens the up and down movement but does it help the spring to maintain height. The reason Im asking this is Ive changed the rear offside cause it was about an inch and a half down on the nearside but the car is standing no different with the new one on. I stood the old and new one together and the new one was an inch higher so I dont know what the next step is maybe change the shocker. It dosent seem to have been leaking and when I bounce the back end it stops after the first bounce so it dosent seem as though theres anything wrong with it. I have parked the car on what looks like level ground all over the place just see to how it stands but still it leans to the offside. Anyone any ideas

The springs give the ride height and the dampers control the spring rebound. Have you lost a coil on one spring due to breakage? Springs need to be changed in pairs, front or back.

The ONLY purpose of the shock absorbers is to control the springs. If they weren't there you would be bouncing down the road like Zebedee:)
(some of our younger viewers may not understand the last reference);)

Is it just at the back end?

Centos are notorious for suffering from 'Cento lean' to the offside due to the fact that every journey needs someone sitting on the offside of the car ;) Could be seeing something similar?
