hi guys, is it common for the handbrake to stick on, on freezing cold days as mine as done, and is there anything i can do to prevent this from happening? My car is stuck on the drive at the moment with it being so cold with the rear brakes stuck on ! cheers guys!!(y)

AFAIK the older ones wernt plastic coated, the new ones i ordered recently were, but they seem much better quality anyway.

still, its £60ish for FIAT replacements or £24 for pattern parts, although the pattern ones are only good for a year...

dont do what i did drive it down the road had smoke coming from rear brakes and scorched them to hell paid 180 quid to change disks and pads do:bang:

Thankyou guys! you have all been a great help as usual. Ive just started parking my car in gear on cold days which as sorted it. thanks again!!:slayer:

Mine done this last week at 6am on the way to work , it turned out my nearside caliper had seized! -perfect timing .
when you'v parked for the night b4 you turn the engine off put it in reverse then switch off, works like a handbrake also it cant be towed away as the wheels are locked .

Just park it in gear and leave the handbrake off, if you feel like making it more secure just stick some chocks under the wheel incase.

It seems to be a common problem at the minute with this cold weather, I don't know if you've got a garage but if you have park it in there, less time to de-ice and let everything warm up!
