Hi Guys.

I know this issue has been mentioned 100's of times before but i'm a bit uncertain about the older Fiat diag. protocols.
I'm about to purchase a ODB-USB converter and want to be sure it's the correct gear i'm buying.
I've heard the 1997 Marea is using a modified ISO9141, but nearly all converters supports ISO9141-2 (incl. EML327) will it work?
I've also heard the protocol should be KWP2000, is this a modified ISO9141 protocol?
Now i've found a ELM323 converter http://www.24.se/default.aspx?main=ShowProduct.aspx&prodid=1364
It should support both mentioned protocols, so i guess it should work?
I'm going to use the 4 wires connection and Uniscan-Euroscan VISA as mentioned in many treads.

Please any advice is appreciated.
Cheers Michael

In addition i have found the following interface description in the original Fiat Workshop Manual, it doesn't seem to fit any of the descriptions in here.
Now i'm even more confused...
Help!!!

Cheers Michael

Hmmm, no replies.:(

I've searched all possible treads regarding this.
If there's anybody that knows more about the topic than me please comment this:

I've downloaded the Uniscan-Euroscan Visa 1.83 and my Fiat Marea 1.6 16V is in the list of cars.
The Uniscan uses COM1 as K-line and COM2 as L-Line, but since the Marea doesn't use the L-Line it's possible to just use the K-line and save a COM port?
If that is the case is it possible to interface between the ECU and the PC using the ELM323 which only uses 1 COM port? or do i need to purchase the Uniscan converter in order to interface with the Uniscan software?

My car is going to the danish version of MOT-test in the spring and would like
to have this running before.

Cheers
Michael

Michael,

the only think i can point you towards is this thread:

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/eng...s-etc/60659-fiat-brava-obd-ii-compatible.html

if the ELM232 supports k-line interface then in theory yes it will work, i have seen previous posts by Jug that suggests it works but dont think i have ever seen anyone post stating they used one.

another option, if you have a 20v, would be to contact a member called 'barnacle' on FCCUK and ask to purchase a one of the widgets he sells, they are about £130 and designed for the coupe but will work is the 20v ecu's

Ry

Thanks Guys.

The thing is that the ELM323 handles both L- & K-lines in one COM port where uniscan only handles one line in each port.
So i'm not 100% sure that Uniscan works with ELM circuits...
But i may give it a go.

Or maybe i should purchase a Uniscan 1.83 and just use one port.
I'm sure that will work.

Cheers
Michael
