Hi to all,

Recently bought a 2000 2.0l Marea, thought it was a good buy but had it a week and the problems have started.

1. when I start it up and put it in gear for the first time prior to pulling off it makes a grinding type noise, almost as if it's not meshing properly. Had it checked by the garage I bought it from and they said they couldn't find anything. Mainly happens when it's very cold.

2. driving along it started making a high pitch noise. Thought it was the cam belt but thats ok. The noise stops when I press the brake but carries on when I release it.

Finally,

3. The ABS light comes on after about 1-2miles and then stays on. How do I sort it out?

Thanks in advance for the help.

If the gearbox is grinding it sounds like the synchromesh. Or the clutch isn't disengaging fully.

Can't suggest anything for the brakes. Mine squeel pretty badly but I'm you are describing a different sound.

ABS light has come up before. If you use the search function theres a few different threads. With a couple different causes. A read of them then a little investigation of you car might yield some results.

Cheers Beast, i'll suggest the syncomesh to garage where I bought it and see what they say. Do you know if ambient temperature would effect them as it definetly gets worse in the cold.
