to remove the pointers the best way Ive found is to use two strong knives and a hairdrier. Make sure the knives are thin enough to go under the bottom plastic washer then ease it up while someone blows across the top of the dial with a hairdrier. If you just put a bit of pressure on the knives it will pop off when it gets warm
