Hi all

need some help, the key fob decided not to work this afternoon locking the car, the light on the fob didn't come on, so guessing need a new battery.

Went to halfords got two 2016 batteries, fitted them, still no light and still no way to lock the car from the fob, never had an issue before, any ideas?

thanks

Simon

It's a common problem. Solder in the microswitch breaks. Easy fix if you have a steady hand and can solder.

Thanks beast, i'll give that a go, any chance of a pic of exactly what needs to be soldered?

Right when you take the key apart to change battery. You will be faced with the back of a small PCB. Pop this out and turn it over and it will look like this.

In the red circle is the microswitch there are 4 solder points on it. There is a good chance it will be one of these points that is broken and need fixed. (y)

Yeah thats it, mine came clean off yesterday. All four points had let go. Be very careful when soldering it back on as your working in a very tight space on one side and you don't want to expose too much heat to the surrounding circuitry.

wonder if anyone could help. i have changed the battery in my key 3 times in 6 weeks and it has stopped working again. any ideas it is driving me nuts. colin :bang:

Have you checked the switch as mentioned above. Take off the cover press the switch down and onto the battery and try pressing the button. More than likely the switch, as the batteries will last atleast a year.

clean the contact areas, the big one behind battery and the small one in the corner, scratch them clean withna screwdriver.
