My power steering seems to creak and is a bit stiff at slow speeds! Also if I brake in a turn at about 20-30 mph, I feel the steering trying to straighten up.

I don't think it's -
- the bushes, as it does it on any surface.
- the CV joints, as I've been round and round in a car park to check.

I've looked at the fluid level, and it looks ok.

It might be coincidental, but I moved the car down a driveway recently, without the engine on. (I didn't see the point for 10 yards, but it was hard work without power). The creak seems to have happened since that.

Any one else had this?

I sort of excluded that after coasting down a drive without the engine on, and hence no power steering. This was bl**dy hard work, and there was still a creaking noise. Am I wrong to discount the pump?

Thanks for the added suggestions, I was getting worried that the steering rack was going at 30,000 miles.

As the noise is concentrated on the drivers side, I eventually tried touching every component whilst someone else turned the wheel - I don't recommend this as I nearly got my finger crushed in the process (in the wheel arch, no one can hear you scream!!). Anyway, it was the anti-roll bar that was actually vibrating the most as it flexed up and down. I suppose the creaking must come from the rubber bush where it's fastened to the car.
Is it just a case of lubricating this, or do I need to replace anything?
