Hi I've copied this from an earlier posting, hope it helps
I've recently fitted a Sony T70 (MP3) changer to the original head unit (grundig)in my marea, works well but only reads first 99 tracks of each CD - but hey 594 tracks under the back seat can't be that bad.
PS i had to buy an interface to keep the steering wheel remotes (mine is a 1999 T reg- yours might be different) -total cost approx £270
found the supplier with a search on webb -sorry can't remember whojust now. if you need it i'll try to dig out the invoice .
Good luck

thx a million m8 i will get searching and saving as i have a few mp3's so an mp3 player would be cool

obtained a grundig mcd36 6cd changer with cable connectors and magazine from e bay for £110 and fitted to my marea weekend 02 reg took adout an hour and works fine also from steering wheel controls, make sure you get the cable usually 5m long as not installed in later models by fiat also that the magazine is included as seem quite difficult to obtain been lookig for a spare for ages. Mcd36's seem to come up quite often on ebay.
If you want a new one it has been replaced by the delphigrundig mcd6 and can be obtained for around £175 incl cable from www.add-a-cdchanger.co.uk or a suitable sony substitute for around £250 from www.caraudiodiscount.com. Hope this helps cheers artysan

I have the Radio + MCD36 autochanger set up, which works very well (doesn't like potholes v.much though!).
When trying to play one CD, I always get the message SURFACE on the radio display. Anyone know what this means? And no the CD isn't upside-down.

'Surface' means that the player can't read the CD.

I occassionally get the same problem with mine - usually with a CD I've burned myself. Sometimes taking the CD out and cleaning it fixes it or trying it in a different slot. Normally if I burn it again it works OK.

It turns out that the CD player can't handle any re-writable disks, only single shot ones - I don't know if its the technology or maybe the disks are the wrong colour. Has any one else tried re-writable CDs in their car?

Try to write the cd with the slowest speed possible about 6X. That might helps. The next thing to do if this not works, is the cleaning of laserlense.

I put the Grundig CD in my car when I got it (in 2001)It plays CD Rs fine. It has said surface once or twice but usually when the car is cold so it may be condensation on the CDs.

Anyone tried one of these? Looks pretty cool to me (if it works!)

USB SD MP3 FIAT MAREA

try putting the terms above into ebay, I'm too newbie to post the URL! Its from Italy...

I have fitted a grundig multichanger to my wifes' marea weekend. Worked perfectly for 6 months, now, when you select the cd changer from either the head unit or the steering column, it switches to Aux?? Is it a problem with the head unit not recognising the cd changer or the other way round??
