Help!
I took my wife's Marea 1998 to a Fiat dealer for a service. The mechanic called be back the same day and said we needed new tires. The second day he called back asked if I had noticed that the airbag light was on and it would cost £700 to fix. I said no. My wife assures me the light was not on. I am sure the dealer probably tripped it on some how. Anyone know how I can get the light off with the airbag working? The bag has not been used by the way.
Extremly peeved
Bob

i would try disconnecting the battery and leaving it for a while, then re-connect.i know on some cars if they have seatbelt sensors, having a heavy bag on the passenger seat can set of warnings but it sounds like they have tripped it.i would get it home to check before paying anything

After leaving the battery disconnected all night the airbag light was still on.. Are there any continuity tests I can do to check the wiring., or do you have to use the airbag computer analyser?

The airbag light will come on if the controller loses power with the key in aux (mar) position. You can only turn it off by taking it to a dealer with a diagnostic kit as it latches in.
The dealer you used sounds like a right con artist, I would report him to Fiat.

I had same thing on my air bag light because I started the engine on w/o the dash panel(cluster) pluged.(I was changing the leds)

I went to a Fiat dealer only to reconfigurate the air bag codification that tooks only few minutes and few money.

Could be same at yours Bob.
