Hi new to forum, Just bought a 1999 100TD ELX weekend estate, great condition 80000mls, guy I bought it off changed timing belt at 79K, two days after I got the motor it started smoking heavily on tickover at all road junctions, and lights with a big missfire, but on motoway and long runs car ran fine, on sunday the smoke became so bad i couldnt see behind for smoke, I decided to check the timing belt that was fitted, & found belt to be looser than and MFI wardrobe and a tooth out of time on the fuel pump, after retiming the pump & tightening the belt everything fine now, so for all those with smoky motors good advice to check the cam belt tension 1st
