Hi guys!

I would like to change the thermostat in my t-jet. Is there any difficulty with it, and anything to pay more attention? And is that enough if I use the seal gasket what I have with my new thermostat, or should I add some more seal or glue to it to seal it perfectly?

Do you have coolant temperature issue ? You'll probably need to use new pipe clamps, eventhough if you remove them carefully you can re-use the original ones. Beside that, the new gasket doesn't need any additional sealant, just make sure the surfaces are free of old seal residue (clean with wirebrush) and you shouldn't get any leak …

Yes, I have coolant temperature issue, that the temp never reaches the middle. In summer it’s almost ok, but when the weather is colder, the coolant temp is lower. That big black metal pipe near up the thermostat could be removed to get larger place for the repairing?

You are reffering to the intake pipe, yes you can remove it... you might have to replace some of the "one-time use" clamps.
I suggest, first checking all the hoses you plan to take off, measure the diameter and buy the appropriate hose clamps.

It's not a difficult job.
You could also remove the battery to get more space.
You don't need to drain the cooling system... just about 1-2 liters.

Thanks a lot! Than I will get the clamps first, and after it I’m gonna do the job! :)

Good advice from Aurick as usual !
BTW your description matches exactly the thermostat stuck (partly) open symptoms …

Don't use any rtv. New thermostat, new oring - done.
Don't re-use the old clamps - buy new ones with the classic screw.
Try not to break the plastic quick connector (return line)

I got an aftermarket stat that was all metal, much sturdier. Mine was leaking as the plastic pipe cracked.

I didn't bother with gasket just rtv, but up to you. ?

Thank you guys! Today I’m gonna buy the clamps, and also the seals for the tubes (I saw it in ePer, that there are 2). Is there any “air-valve” which I should open after the replacement, to take out the air from the system? My old Bravo had 2 valves for it.

There's one on the radiator, close to the top on the RH of the car.
13mm if i'm not mistaken.

Hy!
I'm going to change mine thermostat, so I'm wondering did you buy new copper washers where fits pipe towards oil cooler, or did you reused old ones?

Hi. I used new washers, bought them from tool store webshop, also I find set of them on Aliexpress.

Thanks marracc. Can you provide a link to them or tell me what you typed in to find those specific washers. I want to be sure and have no leaks. How did you find doing the job / did u have any problems? Thanks.

One you need is 16x22x1.5mm ( inner diameter is 16mm, outer is 22mm and thickness is 1.5mm). Nothing special to look after, pay attention for one plastic Quick-clip on hose going to water tank, it tends to break...

Thanks for this marracc. When you say the a clip breaks on the water tank do you mean the expansion tank (see pic) the container with blue lid? Thanks.

Yes, take care when you will remove Quick-clip connector from thermostat. Connector is on the right hose, looking from the container, on the thermostat side. Also remove battery from car, then you will have approach to thermostat bolts.

There are special pliers availble by Ali to release those kind of "quick" connectors ...
