Hi, i have a fiat linea emotion petrol model. The cat con is damaged and needs to be replaced. Earlier the service centre guys quoted the price as 28,000 but after installing they are telling the price is 48,000 because its a petrol car, earlier someone misquoted believing it was diesel.
My concern is, petrol cars are cheaper, so spare parts should also be cheap, even though it may differ sometimes, but by this much!!! Is it fair? Anyone has any idea about what may be the price of cat con...? Please help. Thanks.

surely if they quoted you the lower price, they have to abide by that price?

If they've quoted you lower and you've agreed to the work based upon this then as Lou has said refuse to pay the extra and tell them to remove it if they won't budge on the price.

they have agreed to remove it if required, but i need to install that anyway, that's why i was looking out for the price. Thanks anyway.

Is there an O2 sensor AFTER the catalyst..?

there is a 2nd O2 sensor after the cat
i de-cat my car as there is no regulations here in Egypt on it (they don't measure the emissions) and the ECU didn't show any errors
