Are you the victim of Fiat Misleading Brochures?

According to the Fiat Stilo 3 Door brochure I picked up from my Fiat Dealer on the day of sale last month, the Stilo Abarth comes with the following:-

STANDARD: Connect + Sat Nav with 7" screen, Cruise Control, Parking Sensors, Rain Sensor, Dusk Sensor etc etc.

You can imagine then my annoyance when I picked up my car only to find that it hasn't got any of them ?

MISSING: Connect + Sat Nav with 7" screen, Cruise Control, Parking Sensors, Rain Sensor, Dusk Sensor etc etc.

I paid £14.775 for a Fiat Stilo Abarth which is missing all of them!

What should I do ?

take it back and say its not the spec you ordered and get your money back, if you got it on credit there are laws that say you can change your mind for what ever reason and take goods back, you maybe covered by that.

It is irrelevant whether you bought it on credit or not, although obviously if you have then, you have less to lose.

Sounds like the car was not what was ordered, therefore you can reject it, probably under the sales of goods act. However, check your order form - it will more than likely state that car specifications are subject to change between ordering and delivery - unless these items like Nav+ were expressed implicitly on the order form, you may not have a case.
May be worth speaking to local CAB for advice, and then to a solicitor.

Do you have the selespeed or manual box? I understand the manual loses a lot of the kit you mention being much cheaper.

Manual, but I have the brochure from the dealer on the day of purchase that states they are all standard on the Abarth! it doesnt say selespeed full stop.

Just checked the website and only the selesped has those items, so your car is right Im afraid.

In the brochure it says the rain sensors are standard on all abarth Models, indicating that there was more than one Abarth Model i.e. Manual & Selespeed.

wasnt there a 3 door and 5 door abarth? Im sure you havent been mislead and Im positive the manual abarth was only launched this year, still its a cracking car eh? Also rain sensitive wipers are a pain as they never work when you want!

I picked up the Fiat Stilo 3-Door brochure last month on the day of purchase from my local Fiat Dealer, it's for all 3-Door Stilo's and I quote word for word: Connect Nav + - standard on the Stilo Abarth - adds an advanced 7" wide colour (flat tube) screen with various display settings, Wap Protocol providing internet and e-mail access as well as a messaging record facility. At every level, the Fiat Stilo driver is very well connected.

Well, I think the dealer should have told you it was an old brochure and doesnt indicate what items the manual abarth has fitted. The manual definately doesnt have the items missing from yours, you could try for a goodwill gesture from the dealer but I doubt youd get your money back as they would point out the fact the brochure is old, take a look at the Fiat site.

Personally, I would have questions about ordering from a brochure dated June 2003! Surely you must have done some homework before walking in to a dealer? Maybe not.

Reckon goodwill gesture may be only option, unless all items specified on invoice. The dealer should have been more caring!

I have purchased 4 new Fiats from them in the past 4 years and actually went in to buy a new Punto HGT but didn't like the new shape and the grills, so picked up the brochure and chose the Stilo Abarth Instantly with all the extras as standard according to the brochure. In very small letters on the back it says ed 06.03.

I have since been back and picked up the same brochure and called fiat Information Line and requested a s-Door Stilo Brochure and guess what it's the same!

Sorry, just trying to get the full picture as to why they sold you that spec.

Phone citizens advice. They will let you know where you stand. I wouldn't accept that!
