Can anyone tell me why the New Panda hasn't got the option of the 1.3 Multijet as yet? It might just be on the website but it is a tad odd to omit one of the best engines in the range?!

Also can anyone tell me when the Multijet 140bhp engine is coming to the Stilo??

Any ideas if there is going to be a more powerful engine that that in the Stilo Range like the 2.4 175bhp version in the Alfa 156....

Can any of our Italian Friends help??

I would be a lot more tempted by the new Panda if it had the 1.3 MJTD. Ideally, in 3dr with HGT/Arbath trim, 4 wheel drive (I don't mean 4x4 jacked up, just more traction), ~100bhp. It would need the dual zone air con as well.

I think Fiat have some great engines, but they need to put them in the right cars. Apart from the Punto, you can't get a top of the range model with a diesel. That to me is crazy in this day and age!

the only diesel panda ireland will get is the 1.3 m-jet. maybe they're all being sent over here

I'm glad to be back aswell - I don't know for how long though because I'm having muscular twitches (above the stomach) and that was the reason why i went into surgery for the 2nd time!

The pacemaker has 2 wires coming from it - one to the top and one 2 the bottom and its the bottom wire thats still not right... even though its only the top wire thats is needed to prevent me from having the black outs... (apparently the second wire is a precautionary measure)

Sorrry to have gone off the subject of gorgeous Italian Motor cars...

I don't understand why its 150bhp in the Alfa range and 140bhp in the Stilo - wouldn't it have saved Fiat some money and time just keeping to the 150bhp unit?????

140-150bhp is definitely needed in the Multiwagon I'd imagine anyway....

AR's are the best of Fiat production, for this they have all innovations preview (diesel: M-jet, petrol direct injection: JTS)...

New AR 148 for 5/2006 will has 1.9m-jet16v 200 bhp!!!....
After will be available also for Fiat and GM family...

It's a shame that Lancia have gone this way. I know it's due to a lack of resources/money, but still. When you look at older Lancias like the Fulvia you realise what Lancia could have become.

Steve I'm perfectly with you!!... In Italy a lot persons are angry with Fiat, and for this buy German car...
Lancia pays now, the past stupid politics made by the old Fiat managment...
Also Alfa Romeo some years ago was in this situation (do you remember 155, 145/6???) so a lot Italians bought BMW, MB, Audi, VW...
but after from 156 on... 166, 147, GT... AR returned to make great, fine, fast and well finished cars... with a lot new models on the way (147 restyling, GT cabrio, 158, 148, Brera, 8c...)
In future I hope this also for Lancia, after Fiat will be definitively out of this crisis... New models have had a lot success: Panda, Punto re, Ypsilon, Idea, GT...

I hope...

It's hard to see Fiat having the funds to sort out what is happening to Lancia. Italians not buying Italian cars seems short sighted as Fiat need to sell cars to have any chance of getting Lancia back on track.

I was listening to a motoring show on Radio 4 the other night at work and they were interviewing the public in bars and piazzas in Rome and Turin.

I was shocked at the Italians people opinions and attitude towards FIAT, they are really disillusioned with the marque and favour German brands! [:0]

They haven't endeared themselves to the Stilo, they said that this was supposed to be FIATs saviour but it was a joke and they quoted stories of people, friends, etc who had owned them and there were lots to tell about build quality, reliabilty, etc. They favoured the VW Golf over this car very much.

Then the New Panda was mentioned and this was laughed at too, they claimed that FIAT were trying to use and rekindle an old brand name to revive their products and they also felt that this Panda does not have the spirit of the original, which was basic, cheap and affordable.

The debate went on.............................

Both points are fair up to a point. Early Stilos were afflicted with various problems and the Panda doesn't have the spirit of the original. It's much more upmarket.
