hi my mate is buying a punto mk 1 but it only has the red key and no blue keys... are the blue keys hard to get old of and expensive to buy? cheers andy

Hi Punto lover.
Take the red key to any half decent key cutting outlet or locksmith and pay around 20 quid for a clone...........or take it to a Fiat dealer and pay through the nose!
. You are dead lucky to get the red key as it is needed if work has to be done on the the engine management computer. Or so the story goes.......

do you know why it doesnt have the blue key?
has the owner been using the red key to start the car for a while? the red key is not meant to be used repeatedly, if it has, i wouldnt buy it

i have only the red key rung up fiat for blue keys and they told me that the red key is for recoding engine and that you have to buy two blue keys for the cloning to be complete. these will cost a whopping £95. if you went to fiat ...... however i found that the local key merchant would do it for £20 but you still have to but 2 blue keys ..... the red key is only used for recoding the engine if for example you remove the battery .... SO DONT LOOSE IT

not that i know of ... but sometimes it takes a few tries with the red key to start engine...

heh aswell as it not havin the blue keys we found out that the head gasket was gone!(over heating,heater blowing out cold air,water sprayin out under the bonnet!)the guy was gutted we took it for a spin LOL
