Well buddy of mine is planing to sandblast his Mini,so since i`m going into rebuild myself (my 131),i thought of getting it done too.I`m planning to blast the entire body in order to remove all the paint, rust, etc.Might sound crazy, but i want this car to be in mint condition when it`s all done.
Well,as you can see,i`m from Croatia and we still practice sand in our neck of the woods .The bottom line is i want to get the thing done what ever you want to call it.I must have the shell bared to the bone to get rockin`,but i don`t want some quack to mess around it.Will try to get some more info from past customers(swell idea! ).I`ll post some pics as i go along, but first i gotta disassemble and catalog all the parts. Thanks for your opinions, cheers!
There is the traditional classic car way too of using paint stripper to get back to bare metal. But gently blasting will reveal and weakness in the panels.
Andy.
That`s the general idea,if there is any weakness i want to find it.So if that means blowing half of the paneling off then so be it.If it goes,it means it`s no good in the first place. As said before this is a thorough rebuild. As for the paint stripper,it works just fine on flat surfaces but it`s the nooks and crannies i want to get.Well,it`s a nice day here so i think i`ll go work on the car a bit .Take care guys!
...otherwise they'll cut straight thru it
, he first blasts them with what looks lice ceramic little balls Ant!
it is also used for removing paint, and i would not call a painted surface 'rough'.Sandblasting is a technique which is used for cleaning rough surfaces using abrasive media.
