Well, I've seen it!

The little red hot-rod is, in fact, a 750L and not a 1000CL as I originally thought.

Yesterday I paid it a visit (just a quickie) and this is what I've found:

1. Front nearside tyre flat

2. Front nearside wing paintwork flaking

3. Offside door bubbling on leading edge, about 2 inches long. That is the ONLY rust on the doors!

4. Slight bubbling on front offside wheel arch

5. It looks very mucky with algae on the roof and bumpers

6. Clutch seized (I was told this - need to confirm if that is all)

7. It hasn't moved for two years but the engine was turned over weekly until about 6 months ago.

All in all, it looks in pretty good condition for a 1991 Panda but I need to take a much closer look.

The biggest problem is that the owner, an 82-year-old lady, doesn't really want to get rid of the car, but she doesn't want to see it rotting away either. She hasn't driven the car for two years as she is on medication for depression. Her daughter (my neighbour) has said she shouldn't be driving again ;)

I'm pretty sure I'll get it and get it running again!

Anyway, I'll add to this thread if and when there are further developments :):)

Steve, the best thing you can do is go to your local dealer and buy a brand new Panda................problem solved! ;)

FIAT Stilo Sport. Pretty Much Bog Standard Really. Rear Roof Spoiler,
Sill Protectors, Aluminium Foot Pedals, Eibach 30mm Drop Springs.

I might just do that TC - she's changed her mind :(:(:(:(

More later ...

Pam, my neighbour, will be working on her mother to get her in a warden-aided complex.

Like me, she has got far too attached to the Panda so it will be a major wrench letting it go, but it will have to go eventually ...

Russ - I keep looking at your modded Panda and think ... if only?

I've known about this one before you bought it even, from a Preloved discussion I had a few years ago ...

Never seen one bubbling there before [:0]

But best of luck - hope you can get it and make it roadworthy again.

Met Cognac 99 Brava 100 HSX,
Actually, I nearly did on June 26th :(

I'm now looking for a Brava - it's more sensible, particularly as none of my family would be seen dean in a Cinq or Sei!
