hello.

I just bought a new bleed valve on ebay (the old one was a bit crap and didnt work when you adjusted it etc). Anyway, it came in the post today so off came the one one and the new shiny silver one is on in its place.

The problem now is that the valve is set to off but the car is boosting to like 2.5 bar  obviously this is bad so i stopped boosting :p but its defo set to off and its brand new.

Right, my theory is that the bleed valve has 3 bits to connect hoses to. look here

It has the 2 normal connectors and then a 3rd sticking out the bottom. Am I right in saying that with the bottom one being left unconnected, it is basicly making a leak and so its boosting to whatever it wants, as if the hose was taken off altogether? Would blocking the bottom connector sort this? or am i completly wrong :p. otherwise, can you fit a bleed valve backwards? and im also assuming that, screwed all the way in is OFF :p

cheers!

You either have adjusted it the wrong way or you have plummed it in wrong.

Also make sure you havent pulled the pipe off the actuator or turbo nipple.

i'd would expect the valve to be shut when it is screwed all the way in, and as you said the bottom pipe is where the air is bled out.

try taking it off and blowing through it with your finger blocking the bottom pipe. then you'll be able to feel if its closing while you screw it in and out.
