If the bearing cap is removeable[ive never done a 16v 1.2 cambelt], then remove and bolt a piece of steel bar to lock cam. This method can be done on twincams , so remove inlet and exhaust bearing cap.

i need to fit a new water pump and cam belt can i just mark it with tipex etc....

You can but chances are you'll get the timing out. Need timing tool to do it properly.

And yes the 1.2 and 1.4 16v engines are pretty much the same.

you cant use tipex as the cam pulley needs to be loose when you tension belt. if its not it wont be tensioned right

so i've been phoning around for 1.4 16v cam locking tools even though 1.2 tools will fit....?

now then, basicly i have just bought my punto sportt. you can see in the photo..
i have just replaced the coil pack wich i was told was a common thing?
andd all spark plugss and the enginee sounds alot nicerr now.. however..when the car is stoodd for a day or 2 and i start it it has a squeeky sound for about 30 seconds... but isnt coming from the fan belt.. it is due a cam belt as it has 72.000 on the clock.. would you say thats what the squeeking could be? thanks adam

could be cam belt tensioner, with 72k on it i'd fit cambelt kit asap
