First off, Hello as I am a newbie to this forum!

Having been a Cinq Sporting owner back when they were Shiny and new I always thought that I should have been racing it not using it on the road. A couple of years ago I spoke to some people about building a racing one, maybe someone reading this remembers?? As it turned out I was a little new to the racing thing and took the easy option of buying a 'cheap' race prepped Nova instead and have had moderate success over the last couple of seasons.
Now the burning sensation has returned  and I need to follow up on the Racing Cinq dream but I have to ask some questions first.
What is the best performance (BHP) recorded for a normally aspirated 1108, aggresive cams, modified heads all good? The same question for the 1242 but I also need to know how hard the conversion is for a '4 spanner Mech' (haynes manual measurement). For the series I race in I can't do a turbo and if I do a 1242 I have to run in the invitation class as Fiat never sold 'em
Looking ahead I am going to need the names of suppliers of 'Nicely priced' suspension, exhausts etc so any help greatly appreciated.

Matt

WOW, well you've found the best place for info here.

there are several peeps running hot NA cinq's, the motion is usually to turbo them (VAD) but this isn't an option in your case.

for an 1108 I think the furtherest you can go with basically off the shelf parts is mayb 82bhp? I'm talking tricker throttle body (look inthe sticky in cinq section or do a quick search), mcritch chip, supersprint exhaust, flow the head yourself, 75 cam etc etc.
if you go for a 1242 (much better, its not just the 150cc's, they are a better rounded engine, AND you are closer to that *ideal* cylinder capicity of 330cc each (the most *ideal*volume for combustion performance, of course there are different bores and strokes but, meh).
the 1242, you could do a 75mpi convertion from a punto (just hoist the hole engine in there, as they benefit from a mildly factory modified bottom end and flywheel AFAIK), thats 75bhp and 79 or 89 forget:eek: lb/.ft right there.
then a 40mm or 44mm throttle body bore by ross tricker (in denmark I think), mcritch doesn't do a chip for the mpi ecu, but I'm sure a proper tuning workshop could make you a performance map for it.
supersprint exhaust. MUST inc manifold, very expensive, but in most peoples opinion the best you can get.
custom flowed head (do it yourself!!!)
three angle valve job
GSR induction pipe and BMC filter on the end (GSR IS basically a fella on this forum and clubfirepower forums, he/they produce, test, collect data, alter, modify, then test again, then send out induction pipes, and test using proper flow equipment etc)
if you really want to go to town, you could have a custom hot cam made (the 75cam is very very good in the mid range, and produces lots of torque, wheras the 55 and 60cam's (same) produce less torque at the bottom end, but are quite good for rev's (if you advance them say 10degrees over factory)
you could also get the bottom end lightened and balanced properly, maybe even a light flywheel, paddle clutch etc etc.

if you do that little lot to a 1242, I can see you getting 95-105bhp out of the thing:devil: maybe more with bottom end mod's and that custom cam (going to cost a freaking fortun though)
