Took a 53 plate mk2/b 1.3jtd for a spin today, was quite overpriced (£5k for 42,000 mile 3year lowest of the low spec model, with a steering wheel warning light on
).
Anyway, that little engine!!! what a cracker!!! but what a shed load of turbo lag!! 5th gear doesn't do anything below 65mph, although nailing it from rest thru the gears feels quick and torquey, it does actually make some progress on the dials, defo quicker than a 1242 8v to 60, and maybe quicker than the 16v when booting it about back roads.
fuel economy seemed good, even abusing it for 10miles it showed up as 48mpg, I reckon if you drove it nicely (quite hard actually as under 2000krpm it actually bogg'd down (in most gears ) and threatened to stall).
