Bargain Punto

Took a friend car shopping yesterday afternoon.

He bought a 9 month old Punto with 9000 miles on it for 5000. What a bargain!

He was looking at a 2 year old Seat Ibiza for the same money. If anyone is looking for a Punto now is the time to buy!

Yup, he was dead against it, but I knew once I got him into one and got a good deal he'd like it.

That's the key, get them looking at the little design features and get them driving it. In my experience very few would choose the likes of a Fiesta over a Punto after driving both.

That's excellent. This one was from a Fiat dealer. I think 5K was a great price for a 9 month old car. Even the engine bay is in mint condition.

Must admit Steve C + DIGi, this post has seriously got me interested in the Punto "Sporting" 1.2 16v, they are for sale for as little as £3,700, they are 6 Speed as well!

What one would you recommend...the Sporting or the HGT? Insurance isnt a problem, the only thing I am cautious with is the fact I need good fuel economy! Does that HGT have a drinking problem!

Any advice would be useful!

The HGT isn't exactly economical, it's quick though and much more fun than the 1.2 Sporting.

I need economy Steve, I think the Sporting is the one I will go for!

The 1.2 Sporting is still a fine car. The 1.2 16v engine is refined and economical, and they look lovely. A good buy, and there are some cracking deals on them at the minute. You can get late model Mk2 cars for nothing.

Why not look into the Diesels? Although there wont be any used HGT MJTDs yet, you might find an older 1.9 diesel. Seeing how much uumph my 8v has, I'd think they can be pretty quick, and very economical.
