Idea?

Idea?

I agree, as my car is still currently SORN, buses and cycles make my daily routine alot easier. At peak times, your lucky to find somewhere to hold on to, let alone a seat.

Just lately though, i have witnessed alot of bus drivers with very bad attitudes, and would rather not travel with such tw*ts.

A car over public transport anyday :)

Going back to the original topic for a moment, I again saw the Idea advert on TV last night, it does look fantastic but they've done what Vauxhall did with the Zafira, they've put a top of the range one in the ad with big wheels on it which has to look good, no doubt when I see an Active base version on the road it'll be disappointing.

Just to pick up a few points above...

Paul, you said;

Maybe by putting adverts for cars in bus stands we are allowing people with low incomes something to aspire to and hence motivating them. Sounds like a great oppotunity for Blair's marketing machine.

I doubt the Fiat marketing people were thinking of Mr Blair when they put the ads on bus shelters. I also doubt that they spent this money with the intention of making the people on the buses feel better. I think it's a case of bad positioning and lack of thought. Typical really.

You're post is also a bit confusing. You start by saying bus lanes are fair, but finish by saying that don't want them in your area. They are either a good thing or a bad thing. As a motorist that pays tax/insurance/fuel bills etc, which all fund the excuse of a government in the UK I resent being held to ransom in a queue which is being slowed down by a group of people on a bus that aren't contributing to the upkeep of the roads in any way at all.

The sooner the Labour government stops pandering to the petty whims of the anti-motoring groups the sooner we can all get back to sensible motoring. It's about time they realised that our cars are keeping their wallets fat.

as bus stops are next to the road, and bustops with space for adverts are normally on popular roads, thus implying slow moving traffic at some point in the day, then perhaps it isn't such a bad place to put an advert....

I know I was very confused myself. I changed my opinion about 5 times throughout, probably fell alseep, had dinner etc. then forget what I was trying to say.

The people on the bus however do pay for the upkeep of the road in that bus's have to be taxed (not sure what they pay??) and bus companies have to pay corp tax etc. like everyone else.

if you were to get rid of buses and bus lanes the roads would be even more congested and we would complain even more then.

It is impossible for your ideal world of having no buses and lack of public transport. London would be at a standstill within minutes and the motorways would have to be tripled. The trains, buses, trams etc. may not be perfect and might cost you but without which you wouldn't fit onto the road and who knows, one day you might have to make use of them?

I sometimes use buses, often trains and soon trams (which are the most impractical and stupid thing ever!) and hence can't say they are a bad thing. Also, a cyclist such as me shouldn't need to have insurance, pay tax etc. any more than a pedestrian should have to to walk down the street!

I just saw the idea advert on TV. On far too late at night. Nice music. However, lacked fixed looks at the car (although my Renault adverts do the same!) and it reminded me what I think about it.

It is of a very odd size, too small to be too much yet fairly dull and boring looking like any other thing that size.

Pity, Fiat could have made head way into a low priced mini-mpv. They may still do if the price is good - which i guess it will be - but I wish it had more style.

Just my opinion.

Remember what I said Steve.....ask her just before she's about to hit the big 'O'!;)
