Hi!

I recently learnt that FIAT, in the past, made some fridges, and I want to share this curiosity with you.

I found this FIAT-badged fridge in a small flat that my parents rent for their holidays: one day I went to visit them and, to my surprise...

Unfortunately I didn't have my digital camera with me so I had to use the cellphone one :( I suppose it was made in the 60s, more or less. Notice the front logo, really seems a car one, plus that ice crystal on the bottom ;)
The last photo is not very good, however it is the identification plate on the back, where it was possible to read "FRIGORIFERO TIPO 9010" (fridge type 9010) and then the serial number and more technical information.

Albeit very old, it worked like a charm, it was just a bit noisy when the compressor started or stopped. When we left, it was very difficult for me to accept the idea of leaving it there, I wanted to take it to my home :D

Wow :) they obviously gave up on that game and stuck to what they do best... Making cars :p

Well, if the fridges they made lasted this long then they certainlyt have done better than any other fridge manufacturer! Nowadays, if a fridge lasts more than say a few years you will be doing well!

Wouldn't it be great though....

wow i never knew that!

was it rusty?

Not at all, just had the paint not in very good condition but, hey, it is at least 40 years old! ;)
FIAT cars of the 60s usually don't show much rust, the 70s and 80s models rust very well :( The Ritmo Super 75 we once had and the Uno 45S were mainly made of rust in their last years of life...

Ciao Daniele! Vuoi communicare con e-mail? Abitavo qualche anni fa a Venezia! Non ho parlato troppo, ne anche scritto in la Lingua Bella!

At least you'll be kept cool ;)

Better than a shed on wheels as is our wonderful Doblo, I wonder how good the Sheds would be if they were made by Fiat  saying that, if the shed can do 110MPH (in legal places) then so could the shed! :D

doblos get called 'spacker vans' where i live, because you often see them dropping off disabled kids at the local college. i think thats shocking :nono:
