the problem started when i got rid of my 1.2mrk 2 punto and traded it in for a punto hgt ,yeh its not as fast as most cars over the 2 litre turbo mark but hey. it dosent mater where i am in my car im always on the look out for people to race the car is awsome for speed out doing audi tt q's and rover coupe 2 litre turbo's and mg zr's 160 brake ,first and second realy put the old hair into the seet i can tell you , would never get rid of it ,come on then guys in the hgt's whats the best cars youve thrashed.see i dont get to talk with any owners of hgt's because down in sunny truro/cornwall no one with a fiat or any other people with other cars have ever heard of 1.8 punto cos ther all up country .ven i had to go up to oxford to get mine............

Some stats...

Punto HGT - 130BHP I've seen numerous 0-60 times ranging from 8.3 through to 9 secs. Let's be generous and say 8 seconds.

Audi TT quattro - 225BHP, 0-60 6.6 secs

Rover tomcat - 220BHP - 0-60 6.5 secs

MG ZR160 - 160BHP - 0-60 7.4 secs

I can only presume that you are assuming that the cars you are racing are the "hotter" versions. For example - how can you tell you are racing a ZR 160 on the road? they all look the same. The only way you'd notice if you were racing a TT quattro is if it had twin exit exhausts. Finally, the Tomcat looks the same as the 1.6 and 2.0 models.

waita burst his bubble, can have a race against you in the marea if you like, dont be too sad when you relise your cars not as quick as you thought though.

and deff not a chance in hell against the quattro, my brother in law has one, flippin rappid and he can do corners at 110 that i can only do at about 60-70! i want 4WD!

The only car a hgt could have a good run with there is the zr160, them mg's do weigh a bit more. I've seen hgt's up the pod run 7.5-8 in standard tune.

You're outdoing Rover tomcats? I think they aren't trying mate  Same for the 160ZR, it would leave you for dead. Oh - and the quattro TT's are WAY faster too.

Tomcat i'd agree with pinin, ditto the TT, but the MG i'll disagree with pinin on that one, i had one line up next to me on the 0-60 strip at donny south, and was neck and neck with him all the way (when i fluffed 2nd to 3rd gear change still ended up pretty level iirc?)

edit: oops then see's pinnins next post with the times  :p

The punto's about 1040KG, the ZR is about 100KG heavier, but it has an extra 30BHP, so yeah they could be about even. but I fail to see how he would "out do" one  unless he was more committed around the twisties. But the "awesome for speed" lead me to believe he was talking about a straight line race as opposed to handling.

I really want to see what my JTD would be like against an HGT. Dodgy clutch and all my mate timed a 0-60 in 8.4 seconds. Lots of people say the standard HGT would rape a remapped JTD, even though they weigh about the same, my car has 2bhp more and about 70lb/ft of torque more :chin:

Hate to burst your bubble Luke but there is no way on this planet that your Punto HGT would keep up with my standard Rover Coupe Turbo. On a rolling start, even Scoobies have a hard time pulling away from me so you're saying that you Punto is quicker than one of them?

Not knocking the HGT, it's a fine car but in my opinion the other drivers weren't trying.

According to my owners manual, the stats are

197BHP - 0-60 6.2 secs:p

And keep your racing to the track!

A car is only as good as the person driving it tho. I had a bloke in a Ferrari F430 round a roundabout (he looked a bit annoyed!) but once the road straightened up he was gone. Down my favourite bit of twisty road a bloke in a Z4 couldn't get rid of me until we got to a 30mph section where I refused to speed.
