I would just like to go back a little here and ask you fiattech about the specs with regards the Signum/Croma :) is the Croma useing a Fiat or GM engine/transmission and I take it by your comment that its using the GM chassis/suspension etc perhaps you would like to give us some specs IE- which parts come from which company :)

Basically the Croma uses all the same engines and chassis technology as the GM Signum platform - although Fiat provide the JTD technology for the diesels. I would just prefer Fiat's to be Fiat's at the end of the day.

Ah can see your point here fiattech its really not a TRUE fiat after all (n) which is a shame as its a nice car and we would miss all the faults and issues beep beep ;) :D

True but look at all the lovely money Fiat creamed from them....Ford next;)

WHAT not FORD :( [PNL goes of and mutters bad language to himself]

Ah ha hence the comment made on Vroom Vroom the other night Quote Fiat are the reinventors of the modern day diesel engine :)

Thats due to basic cost cutting as all manufacturers who have been building cars here have done/been thinking off,or so it was said on the radio by a Vauxhall spokesperson.
You also have to remember the poor state of the American economy, same happened with Ford recently so the reprocussions were felt here aswell as the company cut back. Why pay someone £8 hour when someone else will do it for £4 in eastern bloc countries/asia etc.

having sold the Croma up in Yorkshire we didnt get one enquiry on the car. it was (or is) a major flop there. as for the engine/transmission, it is a FIAT engine with FIAT transmission, unfortunately the chassis and components are GM. that is why it drives like a large blamange! (spelling aint a strong point!)
anyway, good luck to FIAT with their venture, but where are the quality little cars they make so well.... learn from the past!:bang:

The 1.9(8 & 16v)/2.4 are Fiat engines, the 1.8 & 2.2 are GM vauxhall with oilways redesigned....I know I have stripped one & you use vauxhall tools!

yeah, the new 500 & Ka are based on the Panda's platform. Fiat will build the 500 in Poland, i don't think Fiat will be making it for Ford though as the Polish plant only has a capacity for 250,000 cars/year, and the Panda already takes up over 100,000 of that.
