Hi All,

Ive had my s reg fiat seicento sporting for 3 years now, i bought it as a used car and it has only done 77,000 and i have had nothing but problems wit it...The car is like a whole new rebuild..it has had:

new fuel tank -
new clutch cables -
Radiator -
2 new exhausts
Head gasket -
new heater system -

to add to this:

the rear windscreen wiper hasnt worked for 2 years
indicators are faulty
green light to tell me lights are on doesnt work
selecting a gear is a problem

How on earth can a car have this many problems in the 50'000 miles that i have had it!!!

I would never buy another :bang: Fiat:bang: but unfortunately im stuck with it as im paying for it!!

just wondered out of interest if anyone else has had these type of problems or whether im just unlucky....

I now call my car "HOS" (heap of s**t)

Tank should have been done for free under recall, all manufacturers have recalls, Mercedes have spent Billions recalling cars to put right rust over last 5 years, and electrical problems, but treat there clients with resepect and don't kibble over reported faults, so publics impression remains high, Fiat dealer network has to learn from this.
Clutch cables are known to snap, but if they go constantly can show wear on the clutch release bearing which is a consumable, and difficulty selecting gear would point to this to, clutch may be on way out an well 77k on a clutch seems fine to me.
Exhausts are considered consumables, all cars go through them, buy a s/s one, it will not rust.
Radiator, can show that the antifreeze has not been changed & system flushed out at 2 year 24,000miles service intervals, or if pink antifreeze 5 years 60,000miles as now used by most manufacturers, but your car is to old for it therefore owners (previous or otherwise) responsibility.
heater system, if matrix again leads to the antifreeze not being replaced therefore rust in the coolant system, which in turn could have lead to head gasket failure.

rear wiper motor, just about every manufacturer I know has had problems with these as they are rarely used and sometimes can get stiff through lack of use, and then burn out when they are used.
Green light is a bulb in the dash, as yet they don't market bulbs that last forever.

I therefore conclude that yes you have had problems but most if not all could have been avoided with proper servicing and care.

Clocking up 50K in 3 years is a fair millage for any car never mind one that was primarily built as a city runabout.

hope you get some of your problems sorted out, look in the Cento section for advice.

Aaron.
