Ok this is a little late but i havent bothered to get round to posting it up!

Ive had the week off work so in the rain and wind ive been outside pulling the interior out and seeing what needs doing to the floor/sills etc.

cats like carpet :D

6_03_06_2.jpg
Seats out, just waiting to get the carpet up now

6_03_06_3.jpg
Its out! :slayer:

6_03_06_4.jpg
An overview of the floor under the carpet. looks a bit messy and is generaly damp and pretty disgusting :yuck:

6_03_06_5.jpg
Turning it over, its also mouldy so its all come out and in the bin :yuck:

6_03_06_6.jpg
The floor underneigh the soundproof carpets. still got the glued on sound proofing to go but its generaly still filthy and green :D

6_03_06_7.jpg
Looks worse than it is. most of the rusty looking patches here are just stuck on bits of crap. the drivers footwell is generaly fine! :slayer:

6_03_06_8.jpg
A quick look from the back

6_03_06_9.jpg
Taking out the glued on sound proofing to see whats underneigh. The passenger footwell brings up the work that was done for last MOT. pretty shody work if I must say myself. its already started to rust again and its a complete mess on the inside. underside of the car looks ok though. (y)

6_03_06_10.jpg
taking the soundproofing out of the spare wheel well. No more rust than I reported last time :D

6_03_06_11.jpg
All out (y)

6_03_06_12.jpg
The worst part ive found. Ive circled all of the major rusty bits. well, the parts that arent just surface. Its the passenger front footwell. part of the floor has come detatched from the sill from rusting. Also there are holes and rust running along where the floor is welded to the front. and again, an old weld has started to rust again.

Unfortunatly I didnt take anymore photos but I basicly ground all the rust I could back to bare metal, treated it with krust and then sprayed with anti rust primer. For the holes I did the same but ive also temporarily fibreglassed over to stop anymore water getting in etc.

Ive also found that the front windscreen is leaking :bang: , thats why it was so damp underthe carpets and why there is so much rust in the passenger footwell as thats were the leak is :(.

Theres a chip in the screen anyway (apeared last week) so i could get that sorted on insurance and ital fix the leak too :D

Not really a restoration report but more of a general thing Ive done today.

I decided to give the uno a mini service. did plan to do more but halfords and my wallet had different ideas.

Originaly wanted to renew the Oil, oil filter, coolant, fuel filter, sparks and HT Leads.

Halfrauds dont stock a fuel filter for the UT and they didnt have any UT leads neither (n) My wallet decided againced the coolant too as its still nice and clean so it can wait till next week :)

Anyway, I did the oil, filter and sparks. Ive used 10w40 halfrauds oil (the recomended one in there little folder things) and a halfrauds filter. Ive used Bosch super 4 sparks.

I did the sparks first. They were bloody tight and pretty crappy looking. there was white residue on the outside of 2 of the plugs but i think they had just been over tightened as once i had got them turning, they came out fine by hand so cant have been siezed in etc.

Those are the old sparks. Not very healthy looking :yuck: Although I havent got a clue how old they are

Next came the oil. sump plug came out easy enough and released a runny, thin black looking liquid :yuck:... all down my arm

let it drain for a bit and then removed the old filter and let that drain too.

As you can see, the oil isnt the healthiest of colours and is literaly black :( poor uno :(

filled up the oil and let the engine run upto temperature. I then took it for a drive and its running alot smoother. probably the sparks! hopefully new leads will make a nice difference. Ill get some ordered in.

I could'a sworn i saw the car on ebay the other night?? U selling up Mate or you gona keep the car?
My guess is that you went to the ace the other night, saw how much everyone liked an old UT and you have decided to keep the beast :) Dont worry mate its part of the buzz of owning such an awesome car. :D
Hopefully next time i come to the Ace i'll get a chance to have a look at her. Was down and out with a hang over & some serious lack of sleep and flu this time :( lol And yeh interparts on hanworth road in hounslow is a great place to get parts for an UT, plus i get discounted prices from there too :D

with engines your mean't to put some engine flush in with the oil and run for lik 15-20mins at idle ONLY then cool off a bit and dump it out, But with a turbo car I wouldn't do that, it would damage the turbo bearings and oil seals, SO what I am going to do with my turbo volvo is just buy some cheapass oil (like £4 a gallon), dump old oil, fill with new nasty stuff, drive around a few days, then dump that and put some decent synth oil in there.
